Thanks for the reply, I am still quite new to PHP and part of the reason for writing these ‘PHP Basics’ posts is to increase my own understanding as well as getting some more discussion going, so this was very helpful and I’ll be sure to update the post.

I understand this is article about basics, but I think you should also write about === operator

$a = 0;
$b = “abc”;

$a == $b # will be true, $b is casted into 0
$a === $b # will be false

Another thing worth mentioning is comparing strings – == can be not really good solution, for example:

$a = “0″;
$b = “000″;

$a == $b # will be true!

$a = “01″;
$b = “0000001″;

$a == $b # also true, they are compared like integers

Quick update. Had about 80 clicks and an unusual amount of leads in the past couple of weeks. I’m going to turn direct ads off this week and then back on next week to check whether it was a fluke or not.

We’re on a free listing now and get an average of one hit through from Sortfolio each week. It’s a nice website and a nice idea but I won’t be signing up for a paid listing again any time soon.

Have you had any more luck with the name change to sortfolio? They got a fair amount of press for it, and have been actively advertising a lot more these days.
